Ciepłe is the oldest place in the municipality of Gniew in terms of culture and history. Three fortified castles have existed in this area from the X to the XIII century, which were located very close to each other, in case of war they formed a strong defensive complex. The village owes its name, most probably, to the thermal conditions, which prevail in this area.
In the written sources it appeared in 1565 as Ciepły Dwór, and then as Czieplen in 1790, as Ciepłe in 1925. The most interesting buildings in the village include the magnificent, although severely neglected, mansion. To this day, among the local population there are stories about one of its owners, the cruel and demonic Kurt Fibelkorn, who lived here in the years of 1865–1930. Those who still remember him, do not want to talk about him much, as if in fear. He was known from the fact that his ghost appeared in the property even when he was allegedly far away from Ciepłe – even in Gdansk or Warsaw. When one of the residents dared to enter the premises of the orchard of Fibelkorn and tried to pick even one apple, his demonic form has appeared there immediately. Sometimes he grabbed the thief by his hand and has cast him from the orchard without even one word, with his eerie, piercing gaze.
The old Fibelkorn died on 11 September, 1930 but he still scares and frightens even today. His devastated grave is also in Ciepłe. Some people have tried to look for treasures there.
